In a laboratory, a wind turbine blade oscillates. The more it approaches exhaustion, the more it seems to reveal a form of vitality, while its digital twin continues its tireless rotation. A crate of pitayas, two postcards from the colonial era, and the approach of a typhoon quietly shift the coordinates of the place.
At the edge of the plantations, wind turbines, artificial lights, birds, winds, and infrastructures compose a landscape where human and non-human memories gradually cease to be distinguishable. An abandoned blade recalls a stranded whale. An engineer offers it a final salute.
In the forest of machines, the master of the Nuo continues a ritual procession for the multispecies disturbances still carried by the winds. The ghosts of yesterday continue to inhabit the infrastructures of today.
Working under the collective name yietnu, Zhang Yi and Ha Nu are artists and researchers who live and work between Paris and Lille. In 2025, they were awarded the DNSAP with distinction from the beaux-arts de Paris. They are currently researching for their doctorates at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the University of Paris 8 respectively. Since 2020, they have been developing an interdisciplinary practice in which fiction acts as a critical technology, capable of shifting regimes of knowledge, reordering narratives and opening up new spaces of perception. Through cinematic language, 3D video, installation, sculpture and other forms, gestures and devices emerging from their research, the duo yietnu composes multidisciplinary and transmedia works in which vanished mythologies, heritage objects, energy infrastructures and changing territories all intersect. Their practice unfolds within a dynamics of displacement, instability, complexity and ecological interdependence. Together, they dismantle any obligation to unity: their genders become fluid, their cultures hybridise, their chronology goes haywire and their subject matter circulates between the human and the non-human, through the mediations of the machinic and the ecologies of the living.
