Lecture: ‘Lisandro Alonso, Breaking into the Sky’ by Gabriela Trujillo
WED 21 OCT 2026— 4.00 pm A talk organised as part of the educational programme, open to the public. Gabriela Trujillo is a writer, film historian, lecturer and a member of the selection committee for the Directors’ Fortnight.
A leading figure in contemporary Argentine cinema, Lisandro Alonso’s body of work is both contemplative and haunted by horror. Whether in big-budget fables (Eureka and Jauja, featuring Viggo Mortensen) or within the austere framework of a realism of which he has been the champion (La libertad, Los muertos, Liverpool), he remains a filmmaker characterised by precision and rigour, not to mention the grace of landscapes dotted with symbols.
