Le Fresnoy – Studio national, partner of “7 à 9 de Chanel” at the Jeu de Paume. A conversation with Claire Denis, hosted by Daniel Duque
Monday 8 December 2025, 7.00 pm –9.00 pm For this seventh event, CHANEL and the Jeu de Paume welcome Claire Denis. Daniel Duque, a student at Le Fresnoy – Studio National for Contemporary Arts, a partner institution for this event, will be in conversation with Claire Denis.
In a series of discussions led by students, internationally renowned artists are invited to explore the representation of beauty in the visual arts. For this sixth event, CHANEL and the Jeu de Paume welcome Claire Denis.
A leading figure in contemporary cinema, Claire Denis has a unique ability to convey on screen what her characters feel deep within themselves. Her deeply sensory direction creates a dialogue between bodies, landscapes and light with rare intensity. In her films, beauty can never be grasped head-on: it emerges, free from fixed codes and norms, from reality, with its own rhythms and vibrations. Claire Denis’s beauty is a living beauty that surfaces, eludes us, and flows through the silences and the breaths.
