How does one stage Rimbaud’s “Je est un autre” (I is another), the «Je est (aussi) un(e) autre» (I is [also] an other)? How does one represent the seemingly erratic links between language and thought? I shall try to institute an authentic dialogue between the voice-off of the sound track and the voice-in of the author on stage while across the screen flit paintings, texts, photographs, videos, films, silent images which appear as the “play” proceeds, like mental projections verging on the subliminal. Contemporaine. Un film parlé will also be the place for experimenting with the coupling of text-images- voices and a mixture of lecturer using a slide show, simultaneous translation and film subtitling, not to mention commentaries about a family photo album.
