Installation
The Saveurs du Nord (Flavours of the North) project came out of experiencing everyday life in the Avesnois region, and my personal sense of the temporality of the journey to Nord-Pas de Calais.
My research combines an artistic viewpoint and a sociological approach to tourist habits. It led me to an interest in the “flavours of the terroir,” seen as capable of awakening a buried memory, like Proust’s madeleine. I use anime drawing and photography in a work dedicated to the inhabitants of the Avesnois, to the agricultural products for which the terroir is renowned, and want to share with viewers my fresh vision of the place as a foreigner.
It is a work of Net Art (an interactive work) which takes the form of a web page, a flash animation, and a sound creation. It is accessible on the Internet and the user intervenes in the story by clicking on the images, texts and animations, causing the screen to break up into different frames.
