Film

To begin with, start with this:
“long before it starts eating at your body, it colonises your mind
 – long after it has devoured your body, it continues to devour your head.”

Jusqu’à 30 follows a solitary figure through the heart of the forest. Amaïa locks herself away in her obsession with accounting and ignores her fatigue. In her battle against the anorexia that is consuming her, she doggedly keeps pushing in the same direction. In her insistence, she discovers a landscape that echoes her body. A body she pushes to its limits that leads her towards an unexpected encounter.

A radical immersion in the inner reality of illness, the film explores the survival of a body through its skin and its bones. Here, anorexia is viewed as an organic response to the chaos induced by trauma; restriction becomes both an illusion of power and a language of protest.

In this work, I seek to capture raw sensation: how to film the brutality of a mental illness, how to listen to a body that is rebuilding itself and screaming in silence. I film the fragile struggle of life, the quest for refuge and the lightness that resists at the heart of gravity.

Découvrir le profil

Born in Évry in 1993, Amélie Gratias lives and works between Lille and Rennes. An actress, writer and director, she works at the intersection of theatre, performance and the visual arts. She studied film at Paris Diderot University – Paris 7 (class of 2014) then went on to the École du Théâtre national de Bretagne (directed by Arthur Nauzyciel) in 2021 before entering Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains in 2025. There she directed her first film. Her work explores the imaginary world and inner architecture of individuals, examining the impact of personal experiences on the body and on language. Her works include the body art/stage performance *Therefore I Am* (2021) at the Théâtre national de Bretagne and *Au seuil* (2024) at the Scène nationale de l'Essonne. She is currently working on *ETNEA* (to premiere in 2027), with the company Chambre 2046, of which she is the artistic director, on a creative grant from the Porosus Endowment Fund. She also collaborates as a performer with artists such as Phia Ménard, Pascal Rambert and Olga Dukhovna in productions that mix theatre, performance and cinema. In addition, her work extends to visual art and digital creation, notably with the installation *Outre-corps* (2025) for the group exhibition *Chat Room* at the Artothèque in Caen. She is currently pursuing research in which the body becomes a space for sensory storytelling, at the intersection of different media.
