Bonjour Nai Nai - Film - 10min - 2025
presented as part of the exhibition Panorama 27

Film
Léo, aged 9, discovers his Chinese origins for the first time through his grandmother’s traditional Buddhist funeral. Filmed from a child’s point of view, Bonjour Nai Nai opens the door to a family that has rather forgotten that it was Chinese. Parallel universes emerge between what we see, the innocence and mischief of a child, and what we hear, the seriousness of the adults' conversations about death.
Emma Huang
Born in Paris in 2000, Emma Huang is a French artist and filmmaker of Chinese origin. She graduated from the École nationale supérieure d’arts Paris-Cergy in 2024, and continued her artistic explorations at Le Fresnoy – Studio national the same year. Her work questions both the complex family relationships between generations and the cultural differences between Asia and the West. Since 2023 she has been interested in the relationship between the emigrant and death, particularly in the history of Chinese immigration to France.
