Longévitable - Installation - 2026

Installation
Longévitable is a multisensory installation comprising a film, videos, olfactory pieces, biohacking devices, soil, and, at selected moments, offerings of food. Inspired by the Cucina Futurista (Futurist Kitchen) of the Italian Futurist artists and the discipline of gastrophysics, the project explores the transformations in our relationship with food in the age of contemporary longevity sciences, which are pointing the way to an increasingly personalised approach to nutrition.
Taking a documentary approach, the artist carries out a series of analyses of his own body in order to define a diet that will help him to achieve greater longevity: genetic tests interpreted by artificial intelligence, measurement of biological age using glycans, lymphocyte transformation test for intolerances, facial analyses, nasopharyngeal endoscopy, intraoral scans, postural analysis, faecal tests, etc.
Using this data, he devises new personalised recipes while exploring the influence of sensory factors – colours, textures, food arrangement, smells – on the perception of taste. By taking into account the constant transformation and diversity of the body, data, bacteria and the environment, the project poses the following questions: How should we eat? What should we eat? Why do we eat? For whom do we eat?
Born in Manisa (Turkey) in 1996, Nazif Can Akçalı lives and works in Paris. A visual artist, visual communication designer and Franco-Turkish Pilates instructor, he has developed a hybrid practice at the intersection of art, design and the body. After graduating from the Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design programme at Sabancı University, Istanbul, in 2021, he went on to take a master’s degrees at the École supérieure d'art de Dunkerque-Tourcoing, as on the Gramounce Food & Art Alternative M.A. programme. His artistic research explores the concepts of longevity, biohacking, gastrophysics and food. Taking a transdisciplinary approach, he works with a variety of media such as video, installation, painting and photography. His work has been exhibited and distinguished at several institutions and festivals, including FEST – New Directors | New Films, the Lille Opera, Zilberman Gallery, the Louvre-Lens, Akbank Sanat, Lille Art Up! and Mamut Art Project.
