Film
In contemporary Hanoi — a city haunted by the echoes of an unfinished love, between a Vietnamese worker sent to East Germany in the 1980s and the woman he left behind. What lingers after the collapse of an ideology inhabits faltering bodies, muted gestures, and misty corners of the city. Echoes of the past ripple through a drifting generation — an inherited fatigue, a quiet unrest, a looping refrain, a trembling future.
Kieu Anh Phuong Nguyen
Phuong Nguyen Kieu Anh (b. 1994) lives and works between France and Vietnam. She graduated from the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in Paris in 2020. Her multidisciplinary practice—spanning installation, film, video, and writing—explores the entangled layers of personal and collective memory. Through fragmented storytelling and the interplay of archival and fictional traces, she constructs environments that unfold as mutable cartographies—landscapes where memory and history are constantly negotiated and reimagined. She has exhibited her work at Palais de Tokyo in Paris (FRA), Magasins généraux in Pantin (FRA), COHERENT in Brussels (BEL), ÀDUPLEX in Geneva (CHE), Sàn Art in Ho Chi Minh City (VNM), and Nhà Sàn Collective in Hanoi as part of DOCUMENTA 15 (GER), among others.
