Variations des cirques - Installation - 2023

présentée dans le cadre de l'exposition Panorama 25

Installation

Variations des cirques combines visual poetry and textile sculpture in its exploration of the hiker's thought patterns. The poems projected here were written when climbing up the Montcalm in spring 2023. This massif in Ariège becomes a space for investigation and impro- visation. The ordeal of the ascent is apparent and is conveyed in the poet's gesture. The collection thus created becomes an attempt at ascensional poetry.

An algorithmic system analyses the poems via numerous linguistic indicators (rhymes, feeling, speed, etc.) and directs three variations on a poem written as we look.

These replay the two days of the poet's climb via an immersion in the instantaneous making of words. The verse is transfigured in its variations: it becomes animated, grows and breaks free, and finally becomes a watercolour, which in turns becomes the score of a musical improvisation.

Ferdinand Campos

Ferdinand Campos is a mathematician-artist and poet. His work focuses on writing and its gesture. He is interested in improvised poetry and the analysis of its language. His works of visual and performative art are impreg- nated with digital arts through code and animated text. He uses images to explore the question of the large as a space and the regimes of the absurd.

In 2020, he founded Singe moyen production. A graduate of ENS Paris-Saclay in mathematics (2021) and then in research-creation (2022), he was invited to Le Fresnoy -- Studio national des arts contemporains in 2022 as a visiting scientist.
