My family immigrated to France illegally - in Portugal they call this the Salto - in the 1960s. That event conditions who I am today. This part of our history has remained hazy, and was long kept silent. Heres: the heir. We inherit what comes back to us, but also what we do not yet possess, what we are deprived of. Deprived of this history, I set off in my family's footsteps, thus writing myself into its history by living out memories at various key phases of its journey. Events have made me the heir to the family home where my grandmother remained alone until the end. My odyssey back in time and space marks my role as an intermediary ; I taking history on board by being the link with the past.
