Installation

As I write these lines, I have yet to take a single photograph for this project. I have just done the casting and, therefore, chosen the models who will appear in the pictures. They are very simple people with no great singularity (with one or two exceptions). I also have a fairly precise idea of the places in which I will photograph them. Indeed, the project came from these places around Le Fresnoy, and from the photograph of a face seen in an actor’s file.

If I follow the plan I set myself (which is the kind of thing I tend to do), I will use these models to recreate scenes from everyday life. They will thus pose in little allegories of daily living. I will leave room for the mood of the moment, the beauty of the banal. It could be the photographic film of the day of one man, something like a photonovel (without the narrative) and the photographic tableaux of Jeff Wall.

I was born in Villefranche-de-Rouergue in 1964 and grew up in a family of farmers. I went to secondary school in Rodez then briefly studied history. I made a short film (“Les héros sont immortels”) then a second, then a third, then a fourth, then a fifth (“Ce vieux rêve qui bouge”), then longer and longer ones until I came to a first, a second and a third and then a fourth feature, until recognition: the official competition at the Festival de Cannes with “ Rester vertical.” Since January 2018 I have been concentrating on photography. I haven’t done much yet, just a portfolio published in the journal Double.
