The ocean has disappeared. In its place, an infinite desert stretches to the horizon. This is where Ella, the new owner of this land, and her husband Stahr, dream of building the city of tomorrow.
One evening, at the inauguration party, a memory short-circuits the present.
Inspired by film noir and magic realism, this is the story of two different gazes that come across an image from the past, the legacy of a trauma and its irruption into reality.
Charles Cadic
Charles Cadic was born in 1991 in Nogent-sur-Marne. He is a graduate of La Cambre, Brussels (2013), and the Beaux-Arts de Paris (2018), and studied at the Glasgow School of Art (Environmental Art). In 2024 he enrolled at Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains. His practice straddles the border between sculpture, video and installation, but also photography, interventions in public space, architecture and sound. Before *Stahr* (2025), a short film produced at Le Fresnoy, he directed *Cénotaphe* (2019), which was post-produced at Light Cone, Paris, and shown at the 40th edition of the Kasseler Dokfest and at the Image Forum Festival in Tokyo. He lives and works in Paris and Tourcoing.
