A terrorist reenacts the process of bomb testing and reconstructs a memory about one’s death.
In 2003, a man, Yang Ru-Men placed bombs in the city of Taipei more than ten times as a statement to protest against the agricultural policy imposed by the Taiwanese government. Yet, none of the bombs was ignited and Yang’s sentence was mitigated because his operation was later judged as a fight for peasants. A few years after he was released from jail, his brother committed suicide at home.
In this work, we invite Yang Ru-Men to revisit the seashore where he practiced bomb-making and go back to his home where he speaks a story about a suicidal scene.

Hsu Che-Yu works as an artist who primarily creates animations, videos, and installations that feature the relations between media and memories. What matters to the artist is not simply the history of events traceable through media, but also the construction and visualization of memories, be they private or collective.
