Ghyzlène Boukaïla

Born in 1993 in Alger (Algeria)

Ghyzlène Boukaila (born in Algiers) develops a multidisciplinary practice spanning film, installation and sculpture, in which immersion and transformation take centre stage.

Her films extend into sculptural or immersive installations that shift our perception of reality and open up speculative narrative spaces, at the intersection of archives, documents and fictional territories. At the heart of her research lie liminal zones—transit spaces—envisaged as active sites of memory, resistance and reconstruction. Drawing on a documentary approach, her work explores postcolonial legacies and acts of resistance. Her work has been presented at the Rencontres Paris/Berlin, the Arab World Institute and the Tampere Film Festival (Finland).
