Vou ver de novo, tá? explores the world of Brazilian women truck drivers through the unique figure of Ruzi Mel, a driver and influencer whose videos bring a splash of pink to a historically male-dominated profession. The film examines how these women transform the solitude of the road into a space for self-expression, where the camera becomes a tool for self-affirmation, resistance and intimate storytelling. Mixing ten years of social media archives with footage filmed remotely by Ruzi Mel herself, the starting point of the film is an observation of how these everyday images blur the boundaries between domestic tasks and technical skills, between feminine and masculine conventions.
In this film made from a distance, the epistolary device of a camera sent to Ruzi Mel provides a space for representing her profession and her daily life far away, separated from the director by an ocean that transforms the mise-en-scène into a digital journey. This act of self-portraiture becomes an extension of this woman’s – and, by extension, all female lorry drivers’ – self-affirmation, as she creates her own codes of life and conduct, while opening the film up to a sharing that reaches beyond its own boundaries. As the work unfolds, the exchange of images evolves into a transatlantic friendship, exploring the new forms of epistolary connection made possible by technology.
