With Le retour, I have come back to fiction after several documentaries. In fiction, I like the absolute freedom of being able to build an imaginary dimension where reality and dream, past and present are mixed and give way to my most intimate obsessions. Autobiography is the starting point for this short-film, my relation with my father is the central point. I would like to talk about families, of the difficulty of growing up with the expectations and disappointment of disappointed expectations. I would like to talk of love which is sometimes played out between power and suffering. The protagonist of this film is a woman who crosses a forest whilst travelling through her memories. Seeing herself again as a child with her father, she relives the terror of the gun shots, the desire to be accepted despite the fact that she was not a boy, and that she was not courageous and the frustration of not being all that. For the first time she also sees her father with different eyes, with adult eyes, understanding his loneliness and weakness.
