Emilien Dubuc

Born in 1987 in Talence (France)

Biography Born in Talence in 1987, Émilien Dubuc originally studied biochemistry in France and then in the Netherlands. He taught at the university, where he experimented with genes and bacteria, before becoming interested in gelatin-silver photography and filmmaking. After a stint at the Royal Academy of Arts in Ghent (KASK, Belgium), where he developed a practice linked to documentary on 16mm film and manual chemical development, Émilien arrived at Le Fresnoy -- Studio national des arts contemporains to implement two projects : a documentary film of everyday life shot on 16mm film, and a project to encode memories in DNA, at the intersection of cinema and chemistry.
