Obesity, Sobriety and Growing Old is the fourth in a series of nine films presenting the same trio: Soho – a property developer, his wife and Félix Teitlebaum, a dreamer and Madame Eckstein's lover, who looks like the artist himself. Full of desire and conflicts, their private lives reflect the political upheavals, the changes, of the end of apartheid. William Kentridgemade the drawings in charcoal and pastels. He gradually transformed them by adding, erasing, redrawing them and filmed each stage in 16 mm, keeping a trace of the precedent image. Courtesy
