Richard Strauss. *Metamorphoses*. Barth Van de Velde. The composer. The piece. His double. A game with three variables around the experience of a conducting body.> Fraktur is the name of a font that synthesised the Gothic characters used in Germanic countries from the 16th to the 20th century. It was Germany’s official font up to 1941, and the one in which Richard Strauss expressed himself all his life, right up to the composition of the Metamorphoses. It is distinctively compact and angular, forming staccato sequences with strong verticals, and is generally associated with the mystical temperament. *Fraktur* is a film about writing and alienation: a corporeal, musical and handwritten writing whose friction gives the film is language.

Before joining Le Fresnoy in 2014, Gilles Ribero was formed at ESA Le Septante Cinq, in Brussels. The body is his main field of experimentation. It acts as a lens through which the eye is formed. He uses mainly photography and video to reveal these shifting states that occur in it, on perceptual and formal levels. He lives and works in Brussels, and is part of the collective La Grotte.
