De Régina Demina installation 2016
ALMA is a piece/performance without living actors about solitude, about dimensions of life that are paradoxical and strange. It is a hybrid of genres: installation, electronic music, spatialised sound. The eponymous protagonist of ALMA is placed at the heart of a group where she lives an abortive romance. Hers is the white trash world of tuning, a “stigmatised passion.” The scene is set by the music, which ranges from Ambient to Gabber, and by a voice-off which itself becomes music. Part of the piece takes place in total darkness, in order to get rid of visual reference points. A tuned shell of a car symbolises Alma and his relationships while the sound space maps Alma’s own mental landscapes.
