Stèle - Installation de Claire Pollet
De Claire Pollet, installation 2009
The detail from the picture An Allegory of the Triumph of Venus by Bronzino projected on the barrel vault looks alive; "holes" or missing sections shift about slowly, as if to allow the image breathing space. this luminous image is also shown on the ground, on a black flagstone. the upper surface seems liquid and acts in a strange way, surging up and creating some surprising relief effects. Stele questions the image as a luminous substance. the installation also raises the question of the impossibility of stopping, of a lapse of memory whose movement sparks a phenomenon of loss. What happens to an image when its reflection alters its status? What does it mean to view the presentation of an image? And finally, what does it mean to see an image?
