Justin Bennett has made numerous projects, installations and performances using music. His interest in urban development can be seen in the sound walks as well as in the maps and graphics that translate visually the acoustic reality of cities. City of Progress traces the growth of an imaginary city as it expands from a single dot into a proliferation of lines and geometric forms. An off screen voice takes us through the different stages of this development, tells us about the links with history and ideology in various eras and the birth and disappearance of certain utopias.
